Jakarta, 19 December 2023 – Jakarta, December 19, 2023 – Indonesian non-profit Pijar Foundation announced its collaboration with PoliPoli Inc., a Tokyo-based public policy platform, in the form of a “Policy Fund” — a philanthropic fund intended to support innovation and policy experimentation for the future of Southeast Asia. Witnessed by Ken Saito, Japan’s Minister of Economy, Trade, and Industry, the MoU signing between Pijar Foundation and PoliPoli Inc. occurred in Tokyo at the ASEAN-Japan Economic Co-Creation Forum, celebrating 50 years of friendship and cooperation between ASEAN and Japan.
Pijar Foundation is an independent non-profit organization in Indonesia aimed at building a strategic ecosystem to realize Future Talent and Future Planet. Through this initiative with PoliPoli Inc., the Pijar Foundation will expand its impact beyond the borders of Indonesia and contribute to inclusive socio-economic development in the Southeast Asian region.
This “Policy Fund” will gather support from various donors, both domestic and international, who share the same spirit to drive social transformation through innovation and policy. The Policy Fund will provide financial support, knowledge, and mentorship to institutions shaping future innovations that can serve as models for public policy transformation.
With the strategic multi-sectoral network of the Pijar Foundation and PoliPoli’s expertise in policy cooperation (synergy between the public and private sectors), this “Policy Fund” will support leaders in Japan and Southeast Asia in addressing future issues. This aligns with President Joko Widodo’s points during the 50th anniversary of ASEAN-Japan cooperation, emphasizing the importance of investment and technology transfer for the progress of both parties.
The “Policy Fund” itself will focus on addressing four inevitable futures: energy scarcity, food crisis, health threats, and talent gaps.
